Errors in the Use of Measure Words

量词的误用

   1. 不定量词使用不当

  Example:

  Wrong:我会说汉语一点儿。

  Right:我会说一点儿汉语。

“(一)点儿” is an indefinite measure word showing a small quantity. It may be before nouns.

“一点儿”in the sentence should be placed before “汉语”to mean that the speaker can only speak a little Chinese.

  Example:

  Wrong:他比我一点儿高。

  Right:他比我高一点儿。

Used in a comparative sentence with “比”,“一点儿”shows that the difference between the two compared elements is very slight. It should go after“高”to serve as a complement of quantity.

  Example:

  Wrong:哥哥新买的皮鞋一点儿小,送给我了。

  Right:哥哥新买的皮鞋小一点儿,送给我了。

“一点儿”may not precede the predicate adjective of a sentence. One should place“一点儿”after“小”.Here, the judgement is made through comparison with the shoes that fit the feet of the speaker's brother.
